The King of Instruments: Meet Aisa's Largest Pipe Organ
At National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) stand two organs of contrasting traditions: a French Romantic symphonic organ and a German Baroque echo organ. Together, they form the largest pipe organ in Asia.
Each organ is a one-of-a-kind union of architecture and sound. As air flows into the pipes, organists use both their hands and feet to produce a vast range of sonorities by combining various stops. From the sacred resonance of a cathedral to moonlit whispers of sound, they create musical colors as diverse as those on a painter's palette.
