Unveiling the Past and Present of Weiwuying!
What comes to mind when you think of "Weiwuying"? A vast park? A former military base? Or the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts?
Behind this land lies an inspiring and meaningful story of transformation. How did it evolve into what we see today?
In 1992, a groundbreaking, non-political social movement called "A Green Dream: Weiwuying Park" swept across Taiwan, revitalizing a soon-to-be-abandoned military base. Before this prime location became the lush green space it is today, innumerable scholars and experts worked tirelessly, lobbying and negotiating with government agencies. Thanks to the dedication of these trailblazers, Weiwuying Metropolitan Park officially opened its doors to the public in 2010. Shortly after, the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) was established, revolutionizing the arts and cultural scene in southern Taiwan.
Take a Deep Breath, Weiwuying! is an animated documentary co-produced by Weiwuying and Taiwan Bar Studio Inc. Through captivating animations, a fast-paced narrative, and interviews with key figures from the movement, the film takes you on a journey to revisit this significant chapter in Kaohsiung and Weiwuying's history.
