One misty day, immortals Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing visit West Lake in Hangzhou, and while on a boat, they meet a young scholar named Xu Xian. Bai and Xu fall in love at first sight. As they recite poetry to each other, Xu notices Bai’s purity and beauty, and Bai feels Xu’s talent and charm are magnetic. When the boat reaches the bank, it starts pouring, so Xu gives his umbrella to Bai, and the story goes on. Though old, the popularity of this story of romance has by no means waned.
